Lefkothea - Stella Kremmyda

Started practicing yoga when she was 24 at the Yoga Sanctuary in Southampton (UK), during her PhD studies in Nutrition and Development (Southampton Uni, School of Medicine). At the Yoga Sanctuary, she attended seminars on deep relaxation, yoga breathing techniques, breathing, sound and Chakra (energy centre) meditation with her dear Yoga Guru Premananda (Steve Harrison). After this great initiation and inspiration with yoga, Stella visited Nepal where she followed yoga practice and meditation classes under the Himalayas. Life brought her to Prague, where she stayed for one year and she experienced teaching yoga for the first time. Being in love with the Teaching, but still feeling that there is a greater depth to it, she returned back to the Yoga Sanctuary in Southampton where she attended the 'Yoga Teacher Training Course and Advanced Studies' programme of 200 hours (IYN accredited) at the age of 28 (2011-2012). During her stay at the Sanctuary, as a member of the Sangha, Stella took part in Satsang (spiritual sharing of the truth through words), teaching, meditation and kirtan-bhajan (devotional singing). Having finished her training she returned to her birth country, Greece, in order to conduct the essence of Yoga in a place she loves! She has received Hatha and Kriya Yoga initiation in India at the Ashram of Shri Yogeshwaranand Paramahansa (Muni-Ki-Reti, Rishikesh), and has also visited ashramas in Haridwar and Varanasi. Stella has attended seminar on Touch for Health Kinisiology (TFH level 1, recognised by the International Kinesiology College), for muscle testing and meridian alignment based on Chinese traditional medicine

Yoga is a holistic scientific approach developed in India over 3000 years ago, to re-balance human health and bring wellness in all levels. It combines philosophy, exercises / yoga postures (asana) and breathing (pranayama) techniques, nutrition (Ayurveda), concentration (dharana) and meditation (dhyana) practices leading to deeper awareness and relaxation. Yoga roots from the Sanskrit verb 'Yuj' which means to 'unite' or to 'merge', bringing mind and body together. Thus, Yoga can be translated as 'Union' or 'Oneness'. Apart from India, 'yoga-like' practices have been evidenced in other ancient civilisations such as the Native Americans, Egyptian and Greek ( Cycladic sculpture ) originating directly from those places, proving the importance and deep basis of yoga.

Often, styles of Yoga practiced nowadays in the West are branches of Classical Hatha Yoga, including Hatha Vinyasa, Yin, Kundalini, Ashtangha Yoga etc.

Nektarios Mitritsakis was born in 1971 in Chania, Crete where he lives up until now.

In 1998, his studies in sitar and classical Indian music brought him to India and eventually to his first yoga class. Since then, yoga became an integral part of his life.

Each of the following years, while in India and in parallel with his studies in music, he pursued to deepen his practice by working with various teachers, by coming in contact with many practitioners and by studying thoroughly the classical yoga scriptures.

This quest of his brought him in contact with the Asthanga Vinyasa system and since 2002 he has been practicing it systematically and with great devotion. He has been studying with Kristina Karitinou, also taking seminars with Richard Freeman, David Williams and Manju Jois.

Nektarios has been teaching the Ashtanga yoga method as taught by Sri K. Pattabhi Jois since 2009 while in 2012 Manju Jois authorized Nektarios to further do so. He now, teaches primary and intermediate series.

His extensive time to India also led him to become an accomplished sitar and veena player as well as a certified Vedic astrologer. During the last years he also practices Vipassana meditation and spends much of his time on the mountains becoming a skillful mountaineer.
